DID YOU ‘HAIR’ THAT?

People, I don’t even know where to begin with this one. All that I can say is, please do not allow yourselves to even begin to believe that this is o.k-it just is not.

Monique- Oscar award winning actress, comedienne, and talk show host has her own views on her individual style and beauty. I respect her for her confidence and applaud her for her role in encouraging plus size women to recognize and appreciate their beauty. Kudos to Monique for all of that. Gotta love a confident woman.

What gives me pause; however, is the condition of her legs and her adamantly stating that she will not shave them. Well people, more power to her for being who she is but all I have to say is that right there is just plain ‘ole “ewwww”.

Now that I have given my opinion on this matter, here are a few tips for women who find it challenging to rid themselves of body hair as most people would agree that excessive body hair on a woman anywhere but on the top of her head is just not appealing. Remember, I said “most people”.

Here are a few of my tips for staying hairless and fabulous:

1. See a qualified Esthetician: consider getting *laser hair removal or electrolysis.

*Note: if you are of a darker complexion, this alternative might not be the best option because darker skin is prone to scarring and hyper-pigmentation. I would recommend finding someone who understands dark skin. I included a link to my personal esthetician ‘Sameena’ of Exsalonce Spa in Oakville, Ontario Canada who is absolutely fabulous.

2. Home Waxing Kit- although this alternative is rather painful, it is an alternative nonetheless. If you cannot bear to do it yourself, see a qualified Esthetician.

3. Shave it all: do not forget to use shaving cream. Personally, I prefer creams that are as close to natural as possible, usually paraben free. Keep in mind; however, shaving can result in unsightly and painful razor bumps so be careful how you approach this technique.

4. Pray to God for a miracle: I recommend the following: ‘God, please allow me to wake up one morning and see non-existent hair follicles to rid me of my hairiness. Please leave the hairs on my head alone, but anywhere else…is fair game.”

5. If all else fails: or you just insist that your hair isn’t going anywhere, then please cover it up in public. Save it for those that appreciate you unconditionally. In other words, don’t leave home without some pants or a really long dress or skirt.

Be fabulous!
